Lesson 79 of 90

I can count on one hand the number of times anyone has given me a prophetic word. And because it is so rare, I remember, almost verbatim what the prophet or those working in the prophetic gifting have shared with me. The second word I received in my life was my position in the body of Christ as an Oracle. At the time I wondered what that meant, later in life I wondered when I would start.
Then came social media and I found it to be the perfect platform to speak to my children the words of wisdom that I think are important, the words I want to reiterate, and the words that I know they’ll appreciate later in life if not today—and social media was the perfect indirect approach.
What I didn’t realize is how many people would find short prayers and reminders of life beneficial. If my children never responded or reposted what they read for them, countless others did! You see, initially, I thought social media was in and of itself a gigantic waste of valuable time. What I didn’t realize was, herein was the forum God would use to speak into lives as an oracle.
I found out much later that my natural children were glancing at posts while others were benefiting. With this in mind, I wanted to capture what would expire over time into something my children, and you, could reference forever.
Some of the sayings you may have heard before and others you may have known but never really considered. Regardless, my prayer is that you enjoy each page, as I’m direct, facetious and principled. Just know I speak from the heart of a mother with good intentions towards you.
Let the read bless your life and know little tweaks here and there, or a complete overhaul in personality can make the difference in having a fulfilled existence or a life denied of the many benefits available to you as a believer.
Now, the Words of an Oracle...
Dear Woman,
Like the Apostles wrote letters to the early church, these are the posts I made on social media and elaborated as a letter just for you. They are designed to inspire and provoke you to be, do and have everything God intended for your life. Some days are a reminder, others are an admonishment, but each day is designed to encourage you.
Sometimes we just need to be encouraged. We can know the Truth and know what’s right, but a reminder is always refreshing. This devotional is designed to be just that—refreshing.
LESSON 79
There used to be a day when a man’s word was his bond; when a promise could be trusted; a handshake meant there was an agreement; commitment signaled loyalty, and a covenant had depth. Somehow over the years and through the generations that has changed, and contractual agreements and/or recordings have become the best way to enforce (un)spoken agreements. In fact, a promise is only as good as the person making it, and commitment is based entirely upon how people feel, rather than on principle, integrity or character.
No surprise that the fickleness expressed towards people is also demonstrated towards God. We make promises and break them without regard; we commit ourselves and change our minds without weighing consequences--towards God or people. Yet with our inconsistency, we still expect and want, ask and beg, hope and wish from God with great expectation that He should and will always come through for us. Thankfully, “He is faithful when we are faithless”. (2 Timothy 2:13)
My point is whole-hearted devotion speaks to loyalty. There is a commitment of self to give, and it doesn't look for ways to receive only, nor does it take relationship for granted. Which means, in the same way that you call on God because you want His help, you also call on Him when there are no pressing needs. In the same way that you look to Him when there’s a problem, you also look to Him with appreciation. When you have integrity and character towards God it means that you daily arise with a desire to please Him, with a decision to acknowledge Him in all of your ways and with a determination to show allegiance towards Him-- regardless, simply because you're devoted.
It's one thing to make a promise to God it's another thing to keep it. So, ask yourself, how committed are you to God when there are no problems in your life? When the chips are down, how willing are you to still honor who He is? Be honest with yourself. Have you made God promises that He is still waiting for you to fulfill? Ecclesiastes 5:4 says, “…It’s better not to vow, than to vow and not pay.” So, consider your ways then live intentionally towards Him. Don't be a user, be a pursuer.
Your spiritual commitment is the most important promise you will ever make. Beyond marriage vows, a pledge of friendship, or the other promises you make in life, your dedication, devotion and faithfulness towards God is the one place that should not be compromised. Do what it takes to honor Him always.
